Introduction to role:
Are you ready to take a crucial inter-disciplinary approach to deliver life-changing medicines? We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Principal Scientist to help support our Respiratory and Immunology discovery pipeline. Leading from the bench, the role will involve developing and implementing our next-generation modalities in their application to pre-clinical programs.
Accountabilities:
As an Associate Principal Scientist, you will bring your expertise in multivalent molecular design to the table. Your strong experience in the application of protein, molecular biology and/or biophysical skill sets will be crucial in creating and characterising the next generation of biologics, with a focus on multi-specific molecules and cellular engagers. You will execute experiments efficiently, analyse, interpret, and present data and ideas to a wider audience.
Essential Skills/Experience:
A Ph.D level scientist with significant post-doctoral experience, or Batchelor’s degree with significant experience in an industry setting
Deep understanding of antibody structure-function relationships, leading to innovation in the field, as evidenced by publications and/or patents
Experience in protein design, production and characterisation of antibodies, or antibody-like scaffolds, common expression systems (e.g. mammalian) and purification methods (e.g. Akta systems), and the ability to profile constructs (e.g. SPR; biochemical assays)
Strong hands-on experience in molecular biology methods and technologies e.g. PCR, RT-PCR, cloning (ligation-dependent and independent methods), site-directed mutagenesis, Sanger sequencing/analysis
Ability to optimize protocols, troubleshoot, interpret experimental results/data and maintain accurate, high-quality and up-to-date experimental records
Strong communication skills in a team environment and an ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies
Experience leading matrix teams
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Background in drug discovery and development in the pharmaceutical industry
Experience in silico design and optimisation of proteins
Experience in automation
