New SLA material withstands 300°C

A new addition to Prototype Projects' portfolio of SLA materials builds parts that can withstand functional temperatures of 300°C. Developed by 3D Systems, the material is known as Accura AMX High Temp 300C.

Accura AMX High Temp 300C

We were privileged to be provided with supplies of this material prior to its launch at Formnext 2023, we have been using it for almost a year on a ProJet 6000 SLA 3D printer. As a result, we are now very familiar with Accura AMX High Temp and customers can be confident of the part quality and quoted delivery times.

Accura AMX High Temp is probably one of the most significant developments in SLA material technology in recent years, it being the industry’s most heat-resistant SLA material that does not require post thermal curing. With no need for post-curing, workflow is simplified and customers can use the parts as soon as possible.

Accura AMX High Temp is a rigid, translucent, unfilled, production-grade material that has excellent isotropy and compatibility with chemicals and automotive fluids. The heat deflection temperature of 300°C is with low stress (0.455 MPa in accordance with ISO 75-1/2 B). At high stress, the heat deflection temperature is still a remarkable 115°C (1.82 MPa in accordance with ISO 75-1/2 A). Other key material characteristics are an ultimate tensile strength of 53 MPa (ISO 527-1/2), a flexural strength of 108 MPa (ISO 178) and an Izod unnotched impact strength of 6 J/m2 (ISO 180-U).

Benefitting from a combination of translucency, high temperature resistance and excellent accuracy, the new material is suitable for a wide variety of functional prototype and end-use applications. Accura AMX High Temp parts can be used for applications such as visualising high-temperature flows of liquids and gases, HVAC components, consumer appliances, personal care products, electric motor components and housings, moulds and tooling, automotive engine bay components, and parts that will be over moulded.
