Founded by Ken Dickson, an internationally experienced finance director, who now acts as 'The Financial Doctor', Axiom-e is an independent strategic financial management consultancy which provides business advice focussed on strategic, financial, accounting, administrative and general management issues. Our portfolio of clients has included commercial organisations, social enterprises and charities.
After senior roles in multinationals, Ken Dickson founded Axiom-e to provide advice focussed on general business and financial management to smaller, interesting organisations with social impact. Ken has been a director of companies in manufacturing, high-tech, business services and educational sectors, a University lecturer and trustee of several charities, including his present church.
As ‘The Financial Doctor’ Ken assesses the financial health of clients, diagnoses underlying problems and prescribes remedies.
Ken’s skills in social enterprise, business planning, start-ups and strategic finance have helped many. Fundraising includes £4m of VC equity, £3m of funding from UKRI, almost £1m reclaimed as R&D tax credits and numerous bank loans totalling several £ms.
Through mentoring, speaking at conferences and designing and running bespoke courses internationally, Ken equips the normal">next generation of businesspeople in the UK and Africa to benefit their communities.

The Financial Doctor from Axiom-e
The Financial Doctor seeks to operate in a similar way to medical doctors and to undertake specific one-off bits of work for corporate clients ("patients") who for various reasons are not as healthy as they might be.
Using the well-established axiom-evaluation service and other specially designed tools, The Financial Doctor seeks to:
- review and assess the financial health of the client
- diagnose the underlying problems which have resulted in the client's ill-health
- prescribe remedies for the condition via a detailed report
Having discussed the options with the 'patient', The Financial Doctor is usually asked to:
- undertake 'surgery' leading to the client's recovery and good health.
'Surgical work' typically involves Axiom-e providing Finance Director assistance for a period of time ranging from a few weeks to several months. During this period we work to help turn the business around.
Visiting the Doctor early enough will result in a successful recovery. Research though shows that the later a patient waits to see the Doctor, the more difficult it is to make a complete recovery!

During a recently concluded programme of treatment for a well-established client, Axiom-e:

axiom-evaluation provides for senior management an independent strategic and financial review of an organisation's activities.
It helps to identify issues which, if acted on early enough, will improve a business's performance.
Provided either as a top-level Strategic Review or as a more detailed Operating and Financial Review, our work will result in a report setting out the key issues that need to be focused on in order to improve operational management as well as longer-term strategic issues.

Our work in support of this nearly always involves us providing many of our other services and often includes acquiring other businesses as a precursor to the trade sale. For this reason the service is known as axiom-expansion.
We facilitate the sale through our axiom-exit service which involves us in several tasks.
Although these are undertaken in the period immediately prior to a sale, Axiom-e seeks to work with its clients over a much lengthier period of time (usually up to two years) so that we can:
