Lumie

Lumie is a British brand on a mission to empower people to reconnect with their natural rhythms for best-ever sleep, mood and energy levels. Lumie has been researching, designing and developing lights which help combat seasonal affective disorder and improve sleep since 1991 – they even invented world's first wake-up light in 1992! Innovative, science-backed and aesthetically pleasing, Lumie light therapy devices aim to deliver the best user experience and swift results - right out of the box and for the years to come.

Based just outside Cambridge, UK, we’ve been researching, designing and developing light therapy products for over 30 years. Enabling you to enjoy the day from the moment you open your eyes in the morning to when you drift off at night, Lumie lights treat seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and winter blues; boost mood and energy levels; improve sleep and waking; optimise sports performance; treat jet-lag and streamline children’s bedtime routines.

Our first Bodyclock dawn simulator – an alarm that wakes you up with increasing levels of light – was the world’s first wake-up light and brought light therapy into the mainstream. As proud market leaders in light therapy, in our design process we focus primarily on using sound scientific research into circadian rhythms and mental wellbeing with-out compromising on aesthetics, quality and durability. Built to last, our lights always deliver on our brand’s promise of a life made bright.

As Europe’s leading light therapy specialist with the broadest range of products in Europe, we have strong connections within the scientific community including at Universities of Surrey and Basel. We’re also a member of the Society for Light Treatment and Biological Rhythms (SLTBR), an international group devoted to promoting research and knowledge about the biological effects of light.

Lumie is certified to the ISO 13485 medical device standard, and, except for Bedbug, Halo and Sunrise Alarm, our products are certified to the Medical Devices Directive (EC 93/42) which means they’re rigorously tested to European health and safe standards and must be backed up with published scientific evidence.

We supply to the NHS on an occasional basis. Our lights are also enhancing the study environment at Cambridge University Library and supported the University of Cambridge rowing crews for the 2018 and 2019 Boat Races. We are also proud to be a long-standing official supplier to the British Swimming team.
