East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH)

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) aims to maximise the quality of life for children and young people with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, and to support their families.

The EACH care team based at our hospice in Milton provides care and support for local families both in the hospice and families' own homes.  The children that we care for have complex needs and need highly specialist care, so our support is tailored to the needs of the individual child.  Some children may only have a very short time to live, perhaps only weeks or months; others may reach young adulthood, but EACH’s aim is always the same – to enhance their quality of life and support their family.

In addition to the all-important end of life care that is always a priority, our services include ongoing respite care, family support, music therapy and assisted play.  Our aim is to enable the child and their family to make the most of their precious time together and reach their full potential, whatever that may be.

Cambridgeshire companies support EACH in a variety of different ways, including staff fundraising, event sponsorship, payroll giving and corporate donations.

Milton Hospice

It is a non-clinical environment where staff don't wear uniforms and families are encouraged to treat the hospice as a home-from-home.

By Sara, Keir's mum...

"We were given the devastating news – our child had a life-limiting illness. Our first thought was of a white clinical building, much like a hospice we had seen depicted in popular television soap. The community nurse assured us that Milton was nothing like that, so we went and took a look.

"We found a place full of life: colourful rooms, friendly faces, lots of toys, a sensory room, playroom, hydrotherapy pool and the living areas for families are like a hotel! Our other two children immediately got stuck in to the dressing up box. The hospice became a lifeline for us and a home from home. The staff were always friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our son particularly loved the pool, where he could move his legs a little, the sensory room and music therapy, during which, through sheer determination of will, he achieved things deemed impossible in his condition."
