Wealth Economy Foundation Workshop - Growing prosperity: sustainable stewardship

This ‘Wealth Economy’ Foundation Workshop will enable leaders to manage their inclusive portfolio of natural, social, human and physical capital, to achieve more prosperous, resilient and sustainable growth today and into the future. It is run by The Bennett Institute, supported by Sookio.

Wealth Economy workshop

Society currently faces a range of interconnected challenges. Whether it is recovering from Covid-19, reversing the biodiversity and climate crises, or preparing for automation and an ageing population, it has become clear that previous economic strategies are no longer fit for purpose.

The challenge is not to ‘Build Back’ but to Build Forward to something better, noting that the future will not, and cannot, be like the past.

This workshop, run by leading Cambridge economists, Professor Diane Coyle and Dr Matthew Agarwala, explores these challenges and looks at practical ways for decision-makers – in government at any level, advisory bodies, civil society organisations, or business – to steer this path.

They will explain in depth the Bennett Institute Wealth Economy approach and how inclusive wealth consists of many interconnected capitals – including human, social, natural, and physical. It is the management of this comprehensive portfolio of assets that determines whether organisations and communities are able to steward and grow organisational and national wealth, resilience and sustainability, rather than depleting the assets required for future prosperity.

You will receive practical inspiration for how the Bennett Institute’s Wealth Economy Framework can be used in the public and private sector and participate in stimulating conversations to better understand how its different components can be applied to your organisation, and what effect this will have in achieving more prosperous, resilient and sustainable growth.

The Wealth Economy approach has contributed to the:
  • Office for National Statistics work to harmonise their social capital standards.
  • International Institute of Sustainable Development’s UN High Level Political Forum on “Building Post-COVID Recovery Around Wealth rather than GDP”
  • Office for Budget Responsibility’s recent Fiscal Risks Report
This half-day workshop will give you:
  • A theoretical and practical understanding of the Wealth Economy approach and framework
  • A clear action plan of how to bring Wealth Economics into your day-to-day decision-making
  • Interactive conversations, activities and solution building with fellow participants
a toolbox including a guide, case studies, resources, useful links and contacts
