The Opportunity

To be part of a growing team of engineers and scientists who design novel process systems for carbon capture, and hydrogen storage. A range of industries and customers urgently require these decarbonisation solutions. At Immaterial, we want to deploy novel and commercially compelling systems in these markets. To achieve this, we are currently hiring for the following position, Manufacturing Technician.

Job Summary/Purpose

The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing processes, equipment and machines and for ensuring that employees correctly document operating procedures.  Our core values - Taking Responsibility, Innovating and Improving, Owning What We Do, and Operating With Trust and Rigor - are at the heart of everything we do.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage – all aspects of production including the production schedule, support the execution of pilot-plant scale process development trials & become equipment expert, run risk analysis for new plant trials where appropriate. Logistics including packaging and shipping, lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational excellence, keep pilot plant in clean and ready for use and maintain equipment including calibration and troubleshooting with equipment owners etc.

Collaborate with – suppliers and experts to design, test, procure and install new equipment.

Documentation – Create documents and plans for all pilot-plant, document results and new learnings from all trials using a fully searchable and traceable system. Prepare reports when required.

Quality control – manage sourcing, storing and tracking or raw materials using the ERP system, including tracking and shipping of finished products, manage gas cylinders, cryogenic liquids. Manage on-boarding, safety training for new starters.

Commissioning Qualification Validation (CQV) - testing of new equipment.

Ensure compliance with – disposal of waste, Health & Safety and Quality Control [e.g., company policies, legal regulations]. Ensure appropriate risk analysis are completed and documented for all experiments and equipment. Maintain ownership of aspects of HSE&S auditing as per company requirements.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

·You will have a scientific or engineering degree inclusive of significant practical work OR 5-10 years practical experience in a relevant environment.

·You will have experience working in a factory, lab or pilot-plant environment (university or post-graduation). Experience working in a chemistry lab and/or a pilot-plant is preferred.

·Attention to detail is extremely critical for this role. We cannot afford errors in chemical handling, in safety procedures, in data-capture. You will be the kind of person who gets things right first time but double-checks to be sure.

·You will be comfortable working with software, for example, for raw-material supply tracking or for chemical disposal. You should be easily familiar with MS office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and open to work with new software.

·You will have strong communication and collaboration skills. You will be part of a small, dynamic team. You will need to work with them to find solutions.

·You will have a strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership.

·You will have action-oriented attitude – you will address problems promptly, and ideally resolve potential problems before they happen.

·Familiarity with chemistry lab equipment and ability to do typical lab tasks (after coaching/training) is important.

Desirable:

·Lean Six Sigma accreditation would be advantageous.

·Familiarity with and experience working with plant or pilot-plant equipment (pumps, valves, tanks, pipes, etc.) would be a strong bonus, but is not a requirement.

Working hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week working 9am to 5pm.  There may be a requirement for shift work in the future subject to the needs of the business.
