An expert on sustainable development supply chains at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) is to work with the UKs leading Net Zero organisation with the aim of delivering Net Zero carbon buildings across the UK.
Passivhaus Trust is an organisation that supports and accelerates ultra low-energy building projects across the country.
ARU’s Industrial Innovation Lead, Paul Bourgeois, has joined the delivery team at the Passivhaus Trust, on secondment to work on the Trust’s development strategy and programmes.
His role will involve promoting the Trust’s building and retrofit approaches to social housing providers, private sector developers, schools and other educational facilities, and supporting businesses to scale up delivery of Net Zero carbon buildings.
Paul has over 27 years of working in the environmental and decarbonisation sector, and has a successful track record of securing multi-million pound funding bids from UK Government and EU funding streams for regional carbon reduction projects.
Paul has worked for local authorities, regional and devolved local government teams, and a national government department. He has also worked in the third sector, setting up two community interest companies, as well as the private sector, establishing his own environmental consultancy in 2007.
Paul said: “I am looking forward to working with Passivhaus Trust to help find supply chain solutions to help those who want to deliver Net Zero Carbon homes and buildings, so they understand costs, which suppliers to trust and how to work with planning authorities to make sure they have everything they need.
“Buildings account for around 35% of the UK’s total carbon emissions, and innovative, sustainable homes built to a high standard will be vital for the UK to achieve its Net Zero goals.
“This secondment builds on the work being done at ARU to promote engagement with businesses, industry, and building sustainable futures.”
