The Property Angels Foundation has received the full amount available from the grant application scheme, £10,000, which has facilitated its ambitious plans to help more people fleeing domestic abuse.

Acquiring funding from The Cambridge has enabled The Foundation to successfully migrate from a Community Interest Company (CIC) to a registered charity and thereby enabled it to seek further funding opportunities available to registered charitable organisations.

The Foundation puts the ‘home’ back into re-homing by supporting families across Huntingdonshire with furniture, flooring, home comforts and social introductions to the community, through its 'Back to Life' support project.

Caroline Deeprose, Founder of The Property Angels Foundation said: “Securing funding from The Cambridge for our newly registered charity, especially when doors seemed closed elsewhere, has been a transformative experience.”

“I hoped for the best that we’d be selected as a recipient of The Fund but I never expected to receive the good news that we’d been successful. It hasn’t just changed my life but it’s a testament to the unwavering dedication of our team and the profound impact we are poised to create.

“This grant has opened the doors to us to seek further funding available to registered charities, and more significantly, it signifies a lifeline for the vulnerable families we serve.”

A further £9,500 has been awarded to the Baca Charity to extend its support to young people seeking refuge in the UK without families, many of whom are victims of human trafficking, by offering them safe homes, and therapeutic support in every aspect of their lives.

Anthony Scarfe, Grants Manager at Baca said: "We’re delighted to have received our grant from the Community Fund and we’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to The Cambridge Building Society.”

“Obtaining this much needed funding means we’ll be able to increase our growth in Cambridge and offer a helping hand to more vulnerable young people in desperate need of safeguarding and secure accommodation.”

The grants are awarded through The Cambridge Building Society Community Fund, a fund established to support local voluntary and community groups with a connection to homes or housing. The fund is administered through the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, which supports local community projects.

Peter Burrows, Chief Executive at The Cambridge, said: “Helping people with issues around housing and shelter is central to our purpose, so we are delighted that through our Community Fund we are able to be fund the amazing work of The Property Angels Foundation and the Baca Charity.”

“Both charities support individuals and families seeking refuge, and we are honoured to be a part of their journeys as they provide transformative help to people rebuilding their lives.”

Applications for grants are made twice yearly via the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation. The first round of applications opens in February and closes at the start of May. The second round of applications opens in August and closes at the start of November.
