Anyone looking to keep fit and healthy in the new year can join in with Cambridge City Council’s festival, which will offer a varied array of free classes, workshops, talks and events with an emphasis on physical activity, mental wellbeing and healthy eating.
The event until 31 January will run on different platforms including Zoom, Youtube, Facebook and Instagram, and will offer something for people of all ages or activity levels.
The festival builds on the success of the first, weekend-long festival held in January 2021, and aims to help residents get 2022 started on the right foot and give people an idea of the scope of health and fitness opportunities available throughout the year in Cambridge.
More than 30 different local instructors and organisations will be showcasing a wide range of informative and interactive sessions including healthy eating ‘cook-alongs’, sessions on staying active during the menopause, bodyweight bootcamps, yoga groups and mindfulness workshops.
Anyone wishing to register their interest and receive a full timetable of activities can register now at https://bookwhen.com/camsport/e/ev-s5z5-20220101000000
Cllr Anna Smith, Leader of the Council and Executive Councillor for Communities, said: “At this time of year many of us start thinking about getting more active, but it can be really hard to get started, especially if you are affected by Covid. So I’m really glad that this January there will be something for everyone to join in with at the Healthy You Festival, which could really help us all start 2022 as we mean to go on.
“It’s fantastic that all the sessions are free. I hope lots of people are able to join in and perhaps either find an activity that they will continue with as the year progresses, or learn some helpful tips that they can put into practice in their day-to-day lives.”
