Facilities Assistant

Help us maintain excellent working facilities at the Hauser Forum – where ideas thrive

This is an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Assistant to oversee the Entrepreneurship Centre, part of the Hauser Forum complex, which is an entrepreneurial hub for the University of Cambridge and the surrounding area.

You will be working for Cambridge Enterprise, the commercialisation arm of the University of Cambridge, and the largest of the building’s tenants. Cambridge Enterprise is the commercialisation arm of the University of Cambridge. Our mission is to help University of Cambridge innovators, experts and entrepreneurs make their ideas and concepts more commercially successful for the benefit of society, the UK economy and the University.

The role:

Overseeing the general running of the building, you will be responsible for the large reception area, multiple offices, meeting rooms and the rentable seminar centre together with its audio visual (AV) facilities.

You will ensure the building is presented to the highest possible standard by overseeing and taking pride in its maintenance, security and cleaning. You will also take a critical role in ensuring the Health and Safety of the building is maintained.

Your skills:

You will use your excellent customer service skills to respond to the needs of the tenants and liaise with University contacts and contractors. You will need to be proactive in identifying potential issues and able to focus on finding solutions. Confident in minor maintenance repairs, including safe power tool work, you are hands-on with a can-do attitude.

You have good IT skills in Microsoft and administrative skills, and the aptitude to pick up the use of AV equipment and new IT-based systems such as access card, building management and intruder alarms.

This role is also a key-holder for out-of-hours emergencies.

Working for a subsidiary of the University of Cambridge, you will be offered a competitive salary with performance related pay, 30 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, a University pension and a flexible working environment. There will also be the opportunity to learn on the job and to undertake relevant qualifications such as the Property Maintenance Apprenticeship.

The University of Cambridge and Cambridge Enterprise value diversity and are committed to equality of opportunity.

The Hauser Forum is based on the West Cambridge Site in Cambridge. Due to the nature of the job, this role is office-based.
