The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB), is a research institute within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). UKRI is an entity that brings together nine partners to create an independent organisation with a strong voice for research and innovation, more information can be found at www.ukri.org.
The LMB Biological Services Group (BSG) maintains advanced facilities to house breeding and experimental rodent colonies. We aim to provide the highest standard of modern transgenic production services and experimental resources to support the scientific programmes of the LMB.
You will join a dedicated team of approximately 70 staff, the majority of whom are Animal Technicians. The main goal of the BSG is to ensure that excellent animal care is provided and that high welfare standards are met. Animal health and welfare are of paramount importance to all staff at the LMB and are essential in achieving valid scientific results.
As the Administrator for the BSG you will provide high-quality admin support to the Head of the BSG and the Operations Manager in their execution of the leadership and management of the Group.
As the successful candidate you will have significant experience in a varied administrative role as well as experience of providing high quality customer service. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with employees at all levels.
The role is based on the Babraham Research Campus and there will be regular visits to our main lab on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
We operate a standard working pattern for full-time staff of 8am – 3.45pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am – 3.30pm on a Friday. However, applications from candidates looking for part-time hours (minimum 28 hours per week) or a job share will be considered. Following completion of training, we can consider informal hybrid working arrangements, with up to 1 day working from home per week. You will be eligible to join our defined benefit pension scheme with an employer contribution of 16%, holiday entitlement of 40.5 days (including bank holidays and privilege days) and a generous employee discount scheme.
