Building Services Technician (Fixed Term)

The University of Cambridge is one of the world's oldest universities and leading academic centres. If you're looking for a new challenge and would like excellent benefits, extensive learning opportunities and a stimulating working environment in return for your skills and contribution, there could be a job here for you.

An opportunity has arisen for a Building Services Technician to join our friendly, busy, facilities team in the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience, providing an efficient and reliable service to our buildings located in central Cambridge.

The role holder will provide day to day maintenance across our two buildings which consist of laboratories, classrooms, offices and lecture theatres. The role holder will support the team with planned and reactive maintenance of our buildings to ensure the provision of a safe, legal and compliant working environment. This will include the maintenance and monitoring of heating, plumbing, and ventilation systems, dealing with gas canisters, general building infrastructure repairs, assisting with the installation of equipment, electrical testing and portering. The role will also include work which could be part of a refurbishment and would include painting and carpentry.

The successful candidate will have good organisational, problem solving and fault finding skills. You should be flexible, have good communication skills and be able to work in a team. You will have experience in a maintenance role, and whilst experience in a University or laboratory environment would be advantageous, it is not essential and training will be given.

Informal enquiries about the role and working at the University are encouraged, and these can be directed to Katie Conran, kcc62@cam.ac.uk.

If you are unable to use the online system for your application, please contact Tracey Flack, pdnhr@pdn.cam.ac.uk.
