Finance Coordinator (Part Time, Fixed Term)

The Milner Therapeutics Institute (MTI) is a growing purpose-built biomedical research Institute at the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The overarching vision of the MTI is to convert pioneering science into therapies. Dynamic and with a start-up environment and culture, the MTI works at the cutting edge of industry and academia to enable and deliver collaborative research, strategic projects and accelerate therapeutic companies- bringing discoveries to life.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a motivated individual to work closely with the Finance, HR and Administration Coordinator and the wider Operations team to ensure that the Institute's financial processes run smoothly, and it can deliver its overall objectives.

The Finance Coordinator will coordinate financial administration services within the MTI, to contribute to the management of departmental finances. They will carry out financial management and reporting activities, for both research grants and general ledger. This includes the preparation of monthly management accounts and bi-annual Governance Board budget forecast, income and expenditure analyses and processing and paying supplier invoices. The Finance Coordinator will also be responsible for invoicing third parties in accordance with agreed timescales, flagging late payments as necessary.

Applicants should possess previous experience of working in a financial or accounting role, including experience of raising AR invoices and processing AP invoices, creating purchase orders as well as creating reports. Applicants must have solid previous experience of working in a finance-related role and be experienced in working with standard Microsoft software packages e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook. Previous experience working in the University in the finance area, including using the University Financial System (CUFS) as well as administration of research grants and associated conditions is highly desirable.

This role is approximately 25 hours per week, across Monday to Friday but with flexibility for the right candidate. Please state your preferred working pattern in the suitability for the role section of the application form.

Please note that this position qualifies for hybrid working, details can be discussed at interview and offer stage.

Financial and project opportunity support for relevant training is available for the right candidate e.g. AAT, CIMA, CIPFA etc.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.

The interview's will be held on the 7th and 8th of September.
