Philanthropy Manager

Join our dynamic Fundraising and Communications team to help create lasting change for people with disabilities in some of the world’s poorest places.

For over 115 years, CBM has been transforming lives around the world. We work with local partners, making sure people with disabilities in some of the world’s poorest communities have access to healthcare, education and a future where they can thrive. As an organisation based on Christian values, we welcome staff of all faiths and none in our work to build an inclusive world in which all people with disabilities enjoy their human rights and achieve their full potential.

This is an exciting time at CBM UK, as we continue to grow and develop our philanthropic fundraising. To help us achieve our ambitious long-term goals this role requires an experienced and passionate individual to be part of our Philanthropy Team.

This vital role will lead the programme to build and grow our relationships with High-Net Worth Individuals (Major Donors) over the next five years and beyond. Working alongside the Head of Philanthropy, you will seek to build upon current relationships, as well as identifying, researching and cultivating relationships with new and lapsed major donors to increase income for CBM UK’s work.

CBM is a Christian charity, and as a key supporter facing role, the position holder will represent CBM’s purpose and ethos to all external audiences and will be sympathetic and embracing of Christian beliefs and values. You will be part of a dynamic and highly skilled Fundraising and Communications team, dedicated to inspiring people in the UK to help transform lives in some of the world’s poorest places.

The position holder will aim to successfully steward a portfolio of new and existing major donors through tailored approaches, securing repeat and multi-year gifts to achieve agreed income targets and KPIs. This will be achieved through: new business acquisition, stewardship and cultivation of current and active donors, proposal and report writing and planning and budgeting.

We are looking for someone with a successful track record of securing high-value philanthropic gifts at the 5-figure level or more and successful experience of identifying and cultivating cold prospects as well as experience of successful stewardship of major donor contacts to yield repeat or increased gifts.

Candidates should have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks to ensure deadlines are met and to manage complex projects. We are looking for someone who is able to communicate effectively, clearly and diplomatically both verbally and in writing and who is able to understand complex reports and present them in a supporter-facing context.
