We are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Scientist to join the Corporate Reserach department at Sartorius. As an applied Machine Learning Scientist, you will use your expertise in modern computer vision methodology to improve world-leading Sartorius cell imaging products routinely used by major companies across the life science and biopharmaceutical industry.
Working with Sartorius you will have unique access and ability to generate large - scale, annotated and high – quality biological datasets across different bioanalytics modalities including live – cell imaging. You will also be directly involved in our collaboration with NVIDIA to accelerate and scale the development of new and better therapies with AI – powered computing platforms and software.
You will join our very talented interdisciplinary and global data science team in Corporate Research that develop AI/advanced data analytics solutions that “moves the needle” in what is currently possible. This position is available full-time, with opportunity to be based remotely in the UK with required travel regularly Sartorius relevant sites eg.: Royston near Cambridge.
Grow with us – Your Responsibilities
- You will design and lead technical/applied research projects to achieve goals laid out in our Research and Technology Roadmaps
- You will evaluate relevant state of the art knowledge for business potential and translate into project and existing product/technology areas
- Use your knowledge and abilities to build prototypes using state-of-the-art machine learning tools for the life sciences in the applications of computer vision, spatial bioanalytics and relevant omics analysis
- One of your tasks will be to implement data science-best practices for developing and deploying high-quality reliable machine learning-solutions
- On a regular basis, you will advise project leads and upper management on project status
- One of your tasks will include working with a global team on respective technology areas
- Maintain and build strong relationships with internal and external collaborators
What will convince us
- Degree or Masters’ degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Biotech, Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines/equivalent research experience, preferably with a focus on life science or biotechnology applications. PhD is desirable
- Experience in industry using modern deep learning frameworks (such as PyTorch or Tensorflow) and with modern computer vision methodology (Object Detection/Tracking or 3D reconstruction)
- Experience working with microscopy images is required
- Strong programming knowledge in Python is required, including knowledge of common data science tools such as Numpy, Pandas and Matplotlib, and version control using Git is desirable
- Working knowledge of either machine learning management systems such as Azure ML, machine learning workflow-engines such as MLFlow/Airflow/Metaflow, or data storage, databases, and structure for large data volumes is desirable
- You describe yourself as a conceptual and creative thinker with excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- You have the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within a large, matrix – based organization
