A Cambridge based technology consultancy is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to work on varied customer projects. The consultancy is primarily focused on embedded electronics and embedded software development.
As a consultancy the projects are varied and include a mixture of early prototyping and new production quality designs. Most development is in C/C++ and targeted at bare metal microcontrollers or embedded Linux although other languages such as Python, Bash, etc. are also heavily used. The ideal candidate will need to be flexible enough to operate across a range of technologies and be able to pick up new languages and tools quickly to meet the
needs of clients.
The candidate should meet the following requirements:
- At least five years of commercial software experience.
- Ability to communicate well with a broad range of people, including clients.
- Highly experienced with C
- Significant embedded Linux experience.
- Significant embedded software experience.
- Able to operate both independently and as part of a team depending on the current project.
- Able to follow old, poorly maintained, and undocumented code when necessary since the company work sometimes includes replacing such legacy systems.
In addition familiarity with the following would be beneficial:
- Python, NodeJS, and other scripting languages
- DevOps and Continuous Integration
- Test automation
The successful applicant will be joining a friendly successful team that works at the very forefront of technology development. Your work will feature in many household name products internationally. You would primarily be based at our central Cambridge office, but with occasional opportunities for site work with clients as agreed. We offer a competitive remuneration package of between £55,000 and £70,000 dependent on experience.
