Only just over 200 places are left for those wanting to take part in the frothy family fun, with 1193 people already signed up to the one-of-a-kind foamy 5k - including scores of teams made up of family, friends and colleagues - which will take place in Riverside Park on Sunday 16 July.
Santander’s own team of ten ‘Bubblers’ will be putting their best feet forward, happy in the knowledge that funds raised will help fund Arthur Rank Hospice‘s vital work both now and in the future. The Hospice supports people in Cambridgeshire who are living with a life-limiting illness: their care and services are delivered free of charge from their new purpose-build home at Shelford Bottom, Cambridge, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech and in people’s homes across Cambridgeshire via the Arthur Rank Community Team.
Andrea Murauskas, Corporate Fundraiser explains how Santander became involved with the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity: “In November last year, Santander Cambridge celebrated the life of one of their friends and former colleagues at a very special event; this sparked the beginning of a great relationship between our two teams. We started talking about the exciting opportunities presented by our flagship summer event - Bubble Rush 5K – and are delighted that Santander are entering a team of ten and sponsoring the event. It costs £7.44 million annually for us to provide the broad array of care and services offered to the Cambridgeshire community by the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity. Every penny raised will make a huge difference to our patients and their families, both now and in the future.”
We would like to offer our sincere thanks to Santander for their generous support.”
The foamy fun 5k can be enjoyed by anyone but is also a popular event for corporate organisations looking for an original team and morale building opportunity. Those signed up to the Santander Cambridge team this year are: Richard Swift, Faruk Uddin, Matthew Manning, Colin Woolliscroft, Adam Payne, Simon Sherratt, Lyndsay Sherratt, Celia Vince, Polly Vince and Maisie Vince.
Bill Higgins, Regional Director at Santander Corporate Cambridge, explains: “Community involvement is a key focus for Santander and to support the Arthur Rank Hospice was a unanimous and popular decision for the Santander Team in Anglia, given that the hospice provided great support to one of our colleagues and his family, when they needed it most. All the staff taking part are looking forward to the fun filled event and we are delighted to sponsor the 2017 Bubble Rush 5K!”
Wannabe ‘Bubblers’ are being advised to sign up quickly after the first, second and third waves of 350 people each sold out in record times. Registration costs £20 for adults and £10 for under 16s.
