Public invited to view and vote for house designs on Wing

Since 20th September, Marshall has been running a competition intended to encourage architects who understand Cambridge to play a part in designing the houses on its exciting Wing development, on Marshall owned land north of Newmarket Road.

Emma Fletcher, Property Director said, “The response from both Architects and the public has been amazing and we have been thrilled by the number of entries, particularly from local firms and students, showcasing creativity and functionality in their designs.”

Judging will take place on the 27th November and the public are invited to attend a three day exhibition in the Marshall old parts building, located on the Marshall North Works accessed by turning off Newmarket Road at the Hyundai garage by the traffic lights.

Members of the public can play a part in the competition by voting for the public choice award at the exhibition between 2-5pm on the 28th and 29th November, and 9am-12pm on the 30th November.

Emma Fletcher added, “We are really enthusiastic about taking Wing forward with strong community involvement, and it is clear from the competition that there is local and national support ensuring high quality throughout the development.”

Prizes worth £14,500 will be awarded to the winning designs, including a unique opportunity to fly over Cambridge’s cityscape. The experienced judging panel will include CEO Robert Marshall, urban design expert Marcial Echenique, Director of the MPhil in architecture at Cambridge Ingrid Schröder, in addition to councillors from a number of Local Authorities.
