Lights on for the highest Christmas tree in Cambridge

Once again Marshall of Cambridge has put up the tallest Christmas tree in Cambridge. Not quite 101ft high to match the number of years Marshall has traded in Cambridge since its foundation in the Motor Business on 1 October 1909; the tall and very elegant Christmas Tree nonetheless adds enormous cheer to the Newmarket Road.

As always, the Christmas tree lights were switched on in conjunction with the Head Teacher, children, parents and governors from Teversham Church of England Primary School just the other side of the Airport.  The School is sponsored by Marshall of Cambridge and this year an art competition was held within the School with a theme of ‘The Battle of Britain’.  The winning artist was Amir Ben Hafsia, who was invited to join Marshall of Cambridge Chief Operating Officer, Mr Robert Marshall, in turning on the lights.

Prior to switching on the lights, the children sang some carols, accompanied on the guitar by their Head Teacher, Liz Jenkin.

The Head Teacher of Teversham School, Liz Jenkin, said:  ‘We enjoy a lovely relationship with the Company and are very grateful to them in so many different ways.  The children enjoyed their painting competition this year and the older ones are looking forward to their annual visit to the Company next summer.

Marshall of Cambridge Chief Operating Officer, Robert Marshall said: ‘It was lovely to hear the children singing in such great voice and we were all delighted to see such a high standard of pictures in their annual painting competition.  We look forward to continuing this relationship with Teversham School for many years’.
