Six large airliners will fly into Cambridge Airport over the coming months.
Jumbo jets to fly in for Italian job
The first Boeing 777 to land at the airport came in last month and a further five will follow at five-week intervals. Marshall Aerospace is carrying out modifications to the crew accommodation areas before the twinjet aeroplanes are delivered to Italian operator Alitalia.
The contract was awarded to Marshall Aerospace by BE Aerospace/Flight Structures against a host of international competition.
'It is hoped this initial contract will be followed by a significant number of these aircraft,' said a spokesman.
Founded in 1909, the Marshall Group has a turnover of £2.5bn and over 5,700 employees. Headquartered on a 900-acre site in Cambridge, Marshall has three principal arms to the business: Aerospace and Defence; Property; and Ventures.
