Innova to present SolidWorks 3D design technology at Cambridge hi-tech developers event

Innova Systems have agreed to present and exhibit their 'SolidWorks' technology at this year’s Embedded Masterclass, an event for developers of electronic and computer based systems. Embedded Masterclass 2009 will take place near Cambridge on 7th May and near Bristol on 12th May.

Innova will be taking part in the Cambridge event.

"We are very pleased to be taking part," said Mark Bradford, Managing Director of Innova Systems. "SolidWorks is a powerful 3D design and visualisation software and is widely used in the hi-tech sector. Our presentation will focus on how easy and how fast it is to use. This kind of 3D design tool has come a long way over recent years and is now immensely powerful, yet very intuitive and easy to adopt into the design process."

Solidworks not only enables engineers to create a model of their product in a virtual world, but also enables them to assemble parts, test motion, generate production data, undertake heat flow analysis and even test enclosure strength and performance. Another popular feature of SolidWorks is its ability to generate photo-realistic images of new designs, ideal for use in marketing and for communicating with customers and other parties within the design project.

"SolidWorks can touch so many aspects of a company that many of our customers regard SolidWorks as a business tool, rather than a CAD tool," said Mark. "Certainly it can accelerate development, aid innovation and reduce commercial risk - so it does bring a lot of important benefits that help our customers compete in what is often a very aggressive market."

Another product to be featured will be a powerful software tool from Canada called Tilcon, that enables engineers to develop impressive graphical user interfaces for electronic systems such as cash points, sat-navs and mobile phones. This will also be of interest to engineers that work with the 'look and feel' of hi-tech products. German debug tools company Lauterbach will also be giving a presentation about how to test software to ensure the final product is responsive but reliable.

"We put a lot of effort into the presentation agenda," said Richard Blackburn, event organiser. "We want engineers to go away feeling that the whole day has been a productive use of their time, so we work hard to ensure each presentation imparts really useful knowledge and that each presenter is a true expert in their technology. Often, the presentations can get quite interactive, which is exactly how we want it to be."

A key part of the event will be a tabletop exhibition with many leading vendors providing demonstrations of their latest technology and tools. These companies will range from US embedded Linux company MontaVista, to Swedish mobile phone software developers Enea.

"We have intentionally kept the event to a tabletop format," said Richard. "We think this helps us keep the focus on the technology rather than having big flash stands and lots of sales managers. We also ask each exhibiting company to send their engineers, not their sales guys. We have learnt that this is something that the visiting engineers really value - the chance to chat at a highly technical level about the issues and challenges that they face on a daily basis."

The Embedded Masterclass is free to engineers and managers working in the technology sector. However, early registration is recommended, as seats at the presentations are limited.
