Innomech appoints Simon Carter to strengthen software development team


Automation consultancy GB Innomech (Innomech) has appointed Simon Carter as project controls engineer to specifically strengthen the company’s in-house resources for the design and development of automation control software.

Simon brings over 20 years of automation industry experience into the consultancy and has held senior-level engineering, project management and other roles with automation technology giants ABB and Alfa Laval Automation.  He has also worked across multiple market sectors including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food and energy.

“Simon’s track record and skills in developing sophisticated control software for complex multi-disciplinary automation projects are a significant addition to our software development team.  He has an enthusiastic and practical approach which is invaluable when we are advising clients on the development of new automation solutions or reconfiguring their existing systems to improve efficiency, reliability or their ability to handle new product variants,” said Tim Mead, managing director of Innomech.

Before joining Innomech, Simon was lead engineer at ABB responsible for integrated control and safety systems for large on-shore oil and gas facilities.  His projects at ABB included the Stublach salt cavern storage facility for natural gas in Cheshire, and working on the expansion of the South Caucasus Pipeline that is used to transport natural gas from the gas fields of Azerbaijan into Europe.

In his spare time Simon is currently restoring a 57 foot narrowboat that was originally part of the Dartline cruising fleet before having its engine removed and being used as a houseboat for the last six years.  Simon is working to return his narrowboat to its former glory in readiness for next summer’s river cruising season.
