(Image removed)The Daily Telegraph book of the week is a tie-in with WHSmith, who are selling the book for half price if bought with a copy of the newspaper. To accompany the promotion, The Daily Telegraph will also be running an interview with Mick, who is a Reader in Psychology at Anglia Ruskin.
Arrowood follows the trials and tribulations of a “self-taught psychologist, occasional drunkard and private investigator” working in Victorian London, at the same time as the famous Sherlock Holmes.
But while Sherlock is called in to solve the problems of the capital’s elite, William Arrowood plies his trade tackling crime and injustice in the crowded streets of working class south London.
Mick, a social psychologist who specialises in learning disabilities, verbal and non-verbal communication and intergroup conflict, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that Arrowood’s been chosen as The Daily Telegraph/WHSmith book of the week. I didn’t expect it at all, so it was a great surprise.”
Arrowood (HarperCollins/HQ) was originally published in hardback in March, and Mick is currently working on a sequel. A screenplay of Arrowood is also in development after production company Cave Bear, a division of Tiger Aspect, bought the rights for a TV series. Actor and director Kathy Burke is signed on as executive producer.
