The two key principles of the covenant are that no member of the Armed Forces Community should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services compared with any other citizen; and in some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate, especially for the injured and bereaved.
By signing the document, Anglia Ruskin recognises the contribution made to the community by regular service personnel, reservists, veterans and military families.
Partnerships between Anglia Ruskin’s Degrees at Work team and the Navy, RAF and the Army mean service personnel can study for a qualification to help them in their roles while they are deployed.
Anglia Ruskin has also pledged to support the employment of veterans, providing work placement and briefing days for injured former service personnel to raise awareness of employment and study opportunities. Employees who choose to be members of the reserve forces will also be supported by accommodating their training and deployment where possible.
Anglia Ruskin’s Degrees at Work team provides flexible and online courses aimed at military spouses so they can progress their studies regardless of location. The Veterans and Families Institute is also committed to carrying out research for the good of veterans and their families.

Anglia Ruskin commits to Armed Forces pledge

Anglia Ruskin University, which provides courses for RAF, Army and Navy personnel, has become the first university in the East of England to sign up to the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant.
