Finnish partnership promotes student and staff exchange, plus R&D collaboration
The agreement was signed in Mikkeli, Finland, this week[ (Tuesday) by Anglia Ruskin University’s Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Roderick Watkins, Jyrki Koivikko, Chairman of the Board of Xamk, and Heikki Saastamoinen, President and CEO of Xamk.
The agreement promotes progression from undergraduate study at Xamk to masters degree programmes at Anglia Ruskin, while at the same time the opportunity to study a masters programme at Xamk will be promoted to Anglia Ruskin undergraduates.
The agreement aims to increase the mobility of students and staff between the two partner universities, while also fostering the joint preparation and implementation of research and development projects for the benefit of both universities.
Rector Heikki Saastamoinen, President and CEO of Xamk, said: “This agreement strengthens Xamk’s internationalization goals, and creates excellent conditions for developing education and expertise within a major European knowledge cluster. Co-operation also involves an entrepreneurial and start-up environment that empowers Xamk to exchange expertise with companies in the Cambridge area.”
Professor Roderick Watkins, Acting Vice Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin, said: “Anglia Ruskin University is delighted to sign this formal partnership with Xamk University. The partnership reflects our joint ambition to develop research, international recruitment, enterprise and enhanced student opportunities across a range of common interests. We look forward to a long term and diverse partnership.”
