The initiative was taken up by staff across Anglia Ruskin’s three main campuses at Chelmsford, Cambridge and Peterborough. In Chelmsford, volunteers helped out on the grounds of Farleigh Hospice in North Court Road. Members of staff also raised vital funds by packing bags for shoppers in Tesco’s Springfield Road store in support of the J’s Hospice.
In Cambridge, staff tended to allotments at Jimmy’s Homeless Shelter near Anglia Ruskin’s East Road campus, and staff supported Peterborough Museum by meeting and greeting their visitors.
Charlotte Manning, who co-ordinated Anglia Ruskin’s participation in the event, said: “We are committed to increasing our engagement with local communities and for the second year running we have supported Give and Gain Day, the UK’s only national day of employee volunteering.
“Staff thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to take time out from their busy schedules to give something back to local communities and threw their energies into achieving something really worthwhile.”
