Anglia Ruskin’s the place to be for science fest

A range of exciting, hands-on science activities are taking place at Anglia Ruskin University as part of Cambridge Science Festival.

Curious visitors of all ages are invited to Anglia Ruskin’s Cambridge campus between 2pm and 6pm on Saturday, 19 March, where there will be a series of interactive activities including a driving simulator, a chance to listen to your voice combined with the sounds of Cambridge, and the opportunity to be dazzled by the interactive light lab.

Anglia Ruskin academics will be holding a series of talks and workshops. Dr Jane Aspell will explain the science of out-of-body experiences, while Dr Peter Brown and Dr Helen Roy will explain how to track an alien ladybird invasion. Professor Viren Swami, author of Attraction Explained; and co-authors of The Scientific Secrets of Doctor Who, Dr Marek Kukula and Simon Guerrier, will be signing copies of their books at their respective events. Both books are on sale from John Smith’s bookshop on the campus.

Miriam Berg, Community Engagement Officer for Anglia Ruskin, said: “There is a huge passion for science throughout the city of Cambridge and we at Anglia Ruskin are delighted to be playing our part in helping people of all ages discover more about some fascinating subjects.

“We’re proud to be part of the Cambridge Science Festival. Our talented academics will be running events throughout the afternoon and there is sure to be something for everyone.”
