Preamble
ARM, the phenomenal Cambridge success story and global market leader in chip design, its VP Keith Clarke is to lead Smart Grids & Cleanpower Conference discussions 5 June with a talk on Connected Intelligence ecosystems, drawing upon startling data such as that middle class ranks are to swell to 3bn by 2030, energy use to increase by 70% in 25 years & 18 countries will be in water shortage. ARM knows that in growing and becoming ever more successful, it is well-placed to be a major energy efficiency player, as it moves to take up a presence in almost all smartphones, appliances and servers globally. Major issues that this long-running conference series in cleantech hopes to revisit during the day.
Title: We Are Connecting Intelligence In Smart Energy
Talk Synopsis - Keith Clarke ARM
Global energy consumption is expected to grow by about 70% in the coming 25 years driven mainly by developing countries. The smart meter is a big step in the right direction towards managing this growth, however in this talk we will look at the key technical issues of communication, security, and processing capability that face designers whose products must interface with the Smart Grid. We define the Smart Grid as a combination of three key elements: the grid itself that load balances and supports the energy demand, the smart meters and the connected appliances that consume the electricity. We will review more efficient processing technologies that can be included in every element that can help make many systems smarter in terms of measurement, communication and control.

This is one of the finest conferences on power and grids in the country. It has a joint exhibition for the two conference streams. Much is changing in these sectors as new technology and innovation, service design, pricing forces, and economic sluggishness cause major and smaller players to rethink their strategies.
Don't miss this extremely good value opportunity for an update and great networking.
