While many are lamenting the demise of the special handwritten Christmas card, supporters of the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity are bucking the trend. The Charity has a hearty and healthy line in seasonal greetings cards which are proving popular alongside their Christmas toys and Christmas puddings packaged in red and gold!
The enthusiasm with which Arthur Rank Hospice Christmas goods has been received can be measured by the fact that the Charity has recruited ex-retail expert Eileen Hughes, in order to keep up with the level of demand. Eileen says: “I knew it was going to be a busy role when I first agreed to help over the festive period, but I’ve blown away by the amount of orders we have already processed. The people of Cambridgeshire clearly still enjoy writing their own Christmas cards by hand which I think is just lovely and it’s wonderful that they chose to support Arthur Rank Hospice Charity as part and parcel of their festive celebrations.”
Eileen has been busy managing stock allocation, orders and distribution to the hospice’s own shops on Mill Road and Regent Street, Cambridge, but also the Charity’s many partners including the Cambridge Building Society who – after choosing Arthur Rank Hospice as their charity for the month of November - will be selling the Christmas stock within all 18 of their branches, as well as their head office. The festive goodies can also be bought from Daisy Chain in Histon, Look Ahead Hair in Fulbourn, Haddenham Art Gallery, the Hospice itself on Mill Road in Cambridge or from the Hudson Centre site at North Cambs Hospital in Wisbech.
In addition the Charity’s staff and volunteers will also be displaying and selling their wares on their stalls at Ely Cathedral Christmas Food & Gift Fair between 13 and 15 November, at Presents Galore from 27 to 29 November, at Mill Rd Christmas Fair on 5 December and as part of their Light up a Life celebrations at the Hospice on 6 December.
If you prefer to order from the comfort of your armchair, you are welcome to visit the Hospice’s website shop, which can be found online at http://www.arhc.org.uk/products.asp#. For those who prefer a fully traditional way of doing things, an order form can be obtained by calling 01223 723115, although please note that Christmas puddings are available for collection only.
