Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) has retained its HR Excellence in Research Award following a 10-year review – demonstrating a long-term commitment to the careers of its research staff.
In the UK, the award is given to institutions implementing the European Commission’s ‘Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers’. Institutions must work to principles set out by the Commission, including recognising the importance of recruiting, selecting and retaining researchers with the highest potential to achieve excellence in research; supporting them to be adaptable and flexible in a changing global research environment; and recognising and promoting the importance of researchers' personal and career development, and lifelong learning.
A total of 87 institutions in the UK hold the HR Excellence in Research Award, managed by Vitae on behalf of the European Commission, and it is reviewed periodically. ARU recently passed its 10-year review, along with the University of Portsmouth and the University of Bournemouth.

“In the recent Research Excellence Framework, all 16 areas of ARU research were classed as containing world-leading research and innovation, and it is a priority for us to ensure our staff are well-positioned to continue the fantastic work that they do.”
