Dr Clark, who is also Chairman of Isle Utilities, replaces Professor Alan Barrell who is standing down after six years of service having led the company through a restart in 2011 when Professor Annie Brooking was appointed as CEO.
“I am delighted to welcome such an experienced industry professional as Piers to chair the Bactest Board” said Professor Brooking, “It’s unusual to find someone who has first-hand experience as an entrepreneur, a private equity investor and also as a senior executive at Thames Water, the UK’s largest water utility. Piers brings extensive water industry expertise to our Board and will be invaluable in helping us grow an international business for our new Shepherd waste water monitoring solution. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Alan Barrell for his contribution to Bactest during his six years as our Chairman.”
Piers has over 20 years’ experience in the water industry. Having spent his early career in research, he founded Sonico, a JV with Atkins and Purac to exploit a novel device he invented and patented for enhanced sludge treatment. Subsequently, Piers held various executive and non-executive positions at Atkins, MOUCHEL, Zeropex, Bluewater Bio and Thames Water where he was the Commercial Director for over four years. Most recently Dr. Clark was Director of Global Water Development for US based Blackstone Private Equity.
