Bailey Fisher welcomes Martha Lane Fox to House of Lords event

Bailey Fisher was delighted to welcome 80 top women in tech to the House of Lords last week for a Women 4 Technology charity reception with guest speaker Martha Lane Fox.

Martha spoke about the transformational power of technology, in her work, personal life and the lives of others, from setting up Lastminute.com in 1998 in the days before Facebook or Google, through to the inspiration that led to her taking up the challenge of her current role as UK Digital Champion, leading Go ON UK in the aim of bringing the benefits of the internet to every individual across the UK.

The event was held in aid of Martha’s chosen charity Just for Kids Law  which works directly with children and young people in difficulty, particularly those in trouble with the law.   JfK Law’s founder Shauneen Lambe shared her inspirational story before introducing Firase Semlali, one of JfK Law’s Youth Ambassadors.  Now in his second year of Law School, Firase told us of the help he has received from JfK Law, which has been vital in helping him turn his life around and get him to where he is today.

Thanks to the generous contributions from guests, Bailey Fisher was delighted to be able to present Just for Kids Law with a cheque for £1000 at the event.

Bailey Fisher's next Women 4 Technology event will take place in the autumn.
