BIFM awards judges announced

Workplace Law’s Managing Director, David Sharp, will be a support judge for the Learning and Career Development Award at the 2013 BIFM Awards, taking place in October.

The BIFM Awards are now firmly established as the premier industry awards programme in the facilities management (FM) sector and are renowned for the quality and integrity of the judges and the judging process.

The Learning and Career Development Award recognises FM organisations or internal FM teams who can provide demonstrable commitment to improving the knowledge and skills of their people within the FM profession.

Last year’s inaugural Award in this category drew significant industry interest, and the BIFM has enhanced its requirements for this year’s entrants by stating that they must demonstrate their overall commitment to the learning and career development of individuals or teams.

It also provides a few examples of what the judges would consider worthy in terms of excellence for this Award:

  • Commitment to FM qualifications (including apprenticeships).
  • Development and implementation of FM related training programmes.
  • Mentoring programmes.
  • Engagement of people into the FM profession and the provision of continuing professional development support through the programme and beyond.

Commenting on being chosen to be a judge, David Sharp said: “It’s an honour to be chosen as a judge for the most prestigious awards in facilities management. I’ve spent my whole career in learning and development, and with the work we are doing at Workplace Law to support competency-based training in FM I’m delighted at the opportunity to get involved with the calibre of entrants the awards attract.”

The Awards ceremony, again sponsored this year by Workplace Law, will take place Monday 14 October at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
