Bioscience and innovation for health - examining the issues

A new series of lively seminars taking a broad perspective on bioscience, health and the policy implications of innovation in the UK health system launches in Cambridge next month.

Led by health policy think-tank the PHG Foundation in partnership with Cambridge University Health Partners and Hughes Hall, The Life Sciences & Society Seminars will continue throughout 2015, combining expert insight with energetic debate on topics ranging across science, medicine and the humanities. The seminars are free and are open to all with an interest in how research in life sciences is adopted in practice for the health and wealth of the nation.

The first – Using big data for health: policy and practice is on 9 December at Robinson College, Cambridge. Topics under the microscope include the benefits, myths and issues of big data in health, service innovation through data sharing, and the politics of electronic health records, with case studies from research and practice.

From January 2015 the seminars will have their permanent home at Hughes Hall, Cambridge.

Details of the first seminar, how to book and news of the programme for 2015 are on the PHG Foundation website at www.phgfoundation.org/LSSS. This event is free (including lunch), but advance booking is required.
