Birketts advises the award-winning East Anglian restaurant business that’s hungry for success

Birketts, the top 100 law firm based in the East of England, has advised G&D Ventures on its purchase of independent restaurant group Animal Inns. The deal sees G&D Ventures take control of The Wilderbeest Arms at Stoke Holy Cross and The Mad Moose in Norwich.

The property transaction was led by Melissa Loucas, with Greg Allan providing corporate law advice.

The financial value of the sale was not disclosed. However, it is understood that Gregory Adjemian and Daniel Smith, the team behind G&D Ventures, plan a bold investment strategy, which will involve a recruitment drive in the coming months.

Melissa Loucas, partner in Birketts’ commercial property team, said: “We are delighted to have advised on this East Anglia success story and look forward to continuing this relationship with G&D Ventures as it continues its journey. Our Norwich office advised on the property and corporate aspects of the sale.”

Mr Adjemian said: "Our aim was to identify a legal partner who could develop a strategic relationship with G&D Ventures to support our objectives and growth plans. Understanding our needs and providing flexibility are key factors in building this partnership and Birketts has committed to this approach and their corporate and property teams successfully delivered results."

G&D Ventures is also the owner of the Ingham Swan, a two AA rosettes and a Michelin Bib restaurant.

Birketts was recently recognised by leading legal directory, Chambers [UK 2015] for its property law expertise and by The Legal 500 UK Awards as ‘corporate and commercial regional firm of the year’.
