Founded in 1986, CMI became known for its expertise with regard to arable farming systems. CMI took a scientific approach to analysing data found in world literature and collected from its own research projects. The findings from these data were then disseminated to the arable farming community across the UK and Europe. CMI ceased trading as a business in December 2019 and its staff have moved to Beeswax in order to continue servicing the agricultural community under the name Green Crop Information.
Specialising in a number of aspects of farming including soil health and crop production, Beeswax (owned by celebrated inventor Sir James Dyson) hopes that the acquisition of the undertakings of CMI will enable it to further expand and diversify its sustainable agriculture and farming practice offerings out to the wider agricultural community.
The transaction was led by Lisa Gray (Corporate), with support from Abigail Trencher in the Employment Team.
Deborah Green, Director of CMI, commented: “I’m very proud of CMI’s achievements. The company has had a considerable influence on UK and European agriculture and I hope that its legacy can continue under the Beeswax umbrella. I wish the Beeswax team every success.”
Deborah added: “Birketts have been fantastically supportive throughout this transitional period. Always friendly and responsive, the team demonstrated excellent client service and commercial insight. I was very pleased with the clarity and efficiency of their communication.”
Lisa Gray, Legal Director in Birketts’ Corporate Team concluded: “It was a privilege to assist Deborah and the team in bringing this transaction to a positive close. CMI has an unparalleled reputation for excellence and integrity so it was our pleasure to assist in this venture.”
