Coal Drops Yard, which was originally established in 1850 to handle the eight million tonnes of coal delivered to London each year, will now become home to over 50 stores, restaurants and cafés.
The store is the fashion brand’s fifth UK store (in addition to King’s Road, Westbourne Grove Notting Hill, Marylebone and Westfield, White City) and will house the latest Autumn/Winter 18 collection, loungewear and iconic DNA collection.
Top 100 law firm Birketts advised on all legal matters with Keith Andrews leading the transaction. Assistance was provided by Mark Elgar.
Keith Andrews, Senior Associate in Birketts' Commercial Property Team, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to assist American Vintage in another store opening by drawing upon our retail and property expertise. To see the redevelopment of Coal Drops Yard as a vibrant new shopping district at the centre of King’s Cross has been tremendously exciting.”
Capucine Boudet, Inhouse Lawyer at American Vintage, concluded: “Birketts were recommended to us when we were working on our first store opening in the UK and have now acted on the acquisition of all our UK sites. They have been a great help guiding us through the legal process which is quite different to that in other countries where we operate.”
