Lavenham, owned by the Santomauro family, is one of the UK's most successful independent fashion brands, famous for its high quality British made quilted diamond jackets, waistcoats and accessories. For Fred Perry, another traditionally British brand, this transaction represents its first corporate acquisition since Fred Perry was established in 1952.
The Birketts team was led by Adam Jones, a Partner in the Corporate Team in Chelmsford and included James Davison (Corporate), Eileen McKendry-Gray (Intellectual Property), Matthew Grindley (Commercial Property), Clare Barlow (Employment) and Gavin Birchall (Tax).
The Santomauro family said, “Birketts LLP were invaluable professional partners throughout the whole negotiation process. The firm demonstrated considerable breadth of knowledge and experience and worked together seamlessly in providing thorough and well thought out advice at all stages. The attention to detail at all levels was remarkable and we took great comfort from knowing that from day one, Birketts were fighting with us for the best deal. Adam proved his steely resolve on many an occasion and right up to the deal being closed. Thanks to Adam and all the team. First class job.”
Adam Jones of Birketts commented, "We are delighted to have helped achieve a successful result for the Santomauro family, and our involvement in the deal demonstrates the firm’s continued commitment to supporting family businesses, as well as our capability to deliver high profile corporate transactions."
Fred Perry were advised by Wallace LLP, BDO LLP and Spayne Lindsay & Co.
