Fifty-three of the 54 teams taking part in the year’s Tour de Wellbeing, which was held during the duration of Le Tour de France in aid of Breast Cancer Care, had already raced, so the pressure was on.
The Birketts’ team (Matthew Potter, Jolyon Berry, Greg Jones, Tom Sharpe and Ben Burt) clocked up an impressive 41.15km in 55 minutes moving them to the top of the leader board, raising over £1,000 in the process.
As one of the top five teams, the team will now compete during the one-day finale on 2 October 2015 at the velodrome, at Lee Valley Velopark, London.
Matt Potter, employment partner at Birketts, said: “We are delighted to have won the heats and thrilled to get the chance to race against the other top teams in such an iconic venue while supporting EMCOR UK in their bid to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.”
EMCOR UK hope that the race will support their target of raising £55,000 by October 2015, to support the 55,000 people diagnosed each year with breast cancer in the UK.
