Birketts plays lead role in East Anglia success story

Birketts, the multi award-winning, top 100 law firm based in the East of England, has advised Mobeus Equity Partners on its latest investment into Automated Systems Group (ASL).

Mobeus has provided £3.9m of follow-on finance to Cambridge-headquartered ASL as part of an overall funding package to support its buy and build strategy through the acquisition of Copyfax (Anglia), based in Great Yarmouth. The deal sees ASL further strengthen its presence in East Anglia.

Birketts provided legal advice with Adrian Seagers, the lead partner, being assisted by James Davison.

Adrian Seagers, head of Birketts' corporate/commercial division, said: “The deal demonstrates the strength of the current private equity market and continued interest in investment into the region. We are delighted to have supported Mobeus and ASL on the transaction and look forward to continuing those relationships into 2015.”

Bob Henry, partner from Mobeus, said: “The breadth and depth of expertise at Birketts is first-rate and their recent award wins are well deserved. Over the years Birketts has taken the time to really understand our business, building a long-lasting partnership and meeting our needs. Throughout the transaction the team were responsive and easy to deal with.”

Birketts was recently crowned ‘corporate and commercial regional firm of the year’ at The Legal 500 UK Awards and ‘corporate law firm of the year’ at this year’s Dealmakers Awards.
