Birketts raises £163,000 for a range of charities

To celebrate its 150th anniversary, law firm Birketts set itself a goal of raising £150,000 at the start of last year, representing £1,000 for each year since being established in 1863.

More than 400 partners and staff at within offices in Ipswich, Cambridge, Chelmsford and Norwich pulled together to collectively beat their target. Each office chose a local charity to raise funds for although many other deserving causes were also supported throughout the year.

Numerous events were held throughout the year to raise funds including a Golfathon with teams from over 20 regional businesses participating, a 150 mile bike ride between the offices and 22 members of staff grew a moustache for Movember. Our CEO, Jonathan Agar, also took part in the Suffolk Jail and Bail to help reach the fundraising goal by securing £1,000 to be bailed.

Nigel Farthing, Senior Partner, said: “The 150th anniversary challenge has been an extremely ambitious extension of our already well-established charity culture at Birketts. I’ve been astounded by the drive and enthusiasm of our staff and I am very pleased to say that through much hard work and with a lot of support from our friends, families and clients, we managed to not only reach our £150,000 target, but to surpass it in style.”
