Established in 1971, Akehurst Tyres Limited, a family business based in Chelmsford, sold tyres to individuals and businesses.
The corporate transaction was led by Nick Burnett with assistance from Heidi Jones. Additionally, Laura Jackson provided employment law advice.
Grace Kerr worked on the property aspects, which involved the sale of the business premises, owned by Brenda Akehurst and leased to Akehurst Tyres, to the International Bible Students Association. If the planning application for Temple Farm is approved, construction is due to start in 2016.
Lisa Akehurst, daughter of Christopher Akehurst who established the firm in 1971 and now Depot Operations Manager with Universal commented: “Birketts' knowledgeable corporate and property teams kept us informed at all times and ensured we reached a positive outcome. Throughout the process the team provided exceptional levels of service.”
Nick Burnett, the corporate partner who led the Birketts team on the sale, said: “Birketts has been providing legal support and assistance to both first generation and long established family businesses for many years.”
Nick continued: “As the only full service top 100 law firm in Essex, we’re delighted to help a local family business secure it sale.”
Birketts was recently recognised as ‘corporate and commercial regional firm of the year’ at The Legal 500 UK Awards and ‘corporate law firm of the year’ at last year’s Dealmakers Awards.
