A few lucky children were treated to an exclusive preview recently when one of the Bubble Rush cannons visited Huntingdon Gymnastic Club’s playing field, giving them a chance to run, jump and play with a comparatively small amount of white and blue bubbles. If their reaction is anything to go by, the colourful event will be a memorable highlight of the summer when it takes place at Riverside Park in Huntingdon from midday on Sunday 17 July. The whole family as well as friends, community groups and work colleagues are invited to sign up and take part, with entries open to all ages and abilities and adults encouraged to be big kids too!
Each of the five stations along the route will jet out a different colour of foam, surprising the senses of touch, sight and smell. ‘Bubblers’ are encouraged to accessorise with tutus, sunglasses, wings and wigs to stop them getting into ‘bubble-trouble’ as they run, jog, walk, dance, hop, or pushchair around the route all while foam cannons blow out 30 cubic metres of milkshake froth a minute. Highly trained Bubble Commando teams, will be there to ensure everyone is safely soapsud’d with colour.
Tasha Auburn, Events Officer at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, says: “We’re delighted to be bringing this exclusive, super-fun event to Huntingdon. We’ve never done anything quite like it before and can’t wait to soak up the atmosphere on the day itself. With MCs getting everyone in the mood before the 5K foam-fest begins, friends and family offering each other ‘bubble cuddles’ along the route and participants knowing they’re raising funds for two great local causes, we think Bubble Rush will bring a real buzz to the area this summer.”
Adam Scott, Club Manager at Huntingdon Gymnastics Club adds: “Each year we run a gymnastics event: this year we wanted to do something in the wider community, to engage with people that we don’t see at the club and we are delighted to work alongside another great charity, Arthur Rank Hospice Charity to raise the profile of both charities in the Huntingdonshire area.”
