Cambridge business leaders tee off for disadvantaged children

Over 75 business professionals from Cambridge came together for a charity golf day at Hunstanton Golf Course on 13 July. Organised by Andrew Moore from Bailey Fisher and Charles le Strange Meakin, from KPMG, the event raised more than £8,000 for Action for Children’s ‘Byte Night’ sleep out fundraiser, held every October at Cambridge Airport.

Andrew said: “Thanks to the generosity of the teams and individual players, we managed to raise an amazing £8,301 which will go towards this year’s Byte Night East Anglia target of £120,000.”

With 93 points, the team competition was won by Barry Arbon, Damien Goldsack, Daniel Smith and Paul Smith from Coutts.  Coutts also came out on top in the individual competition, with Paul Smith’s total of 43 points, playing off a handicap of 12.

Andrew continued: “Each year Byte Night brings together hundreds of like-minded members of the business and technology community to sleep out overnight to help change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people.

“Last year’s event saw over 1,200 people sleeping out across 10 UK locations, and raised over £1.1m.  This year, the national sleep out will take place on Friday 7 October, and aims to raise £1.4m across the UK.

“We are still looking for committed professionals from across East Anglia to sleep out at Cambridge Airport this year and help us continue to support the most vulnerable young people in our region.”

The funds raised at the Byte Night East Anglia event in Cambridge will support Action for Children services such as West Suffolk Shared Housing, which provides short-term accommodation for homeless young people.

Bailey Fisher Executive Search would like to thank Hunstanton Golf Club for hosting the event and UBS, FootJoy, HSBC, KPMG and PING for donating prizes.
