Cambridge Business Week 2013 launches at TWI

Key figures from the Cambridge business community will gather at TWI, Granta Park, next Monday (March 18) for a breakfast event to mark the launch of Cambridge Business Week – a celebration of success in technology and innovation with a focus on the achievements and market-leading strengths of local companies.

TWI will host the launch on behalf of the Cambridge Business Week organising committee, and will welcome the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, the Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable MP, Cambridge MP Dr Julian Huppert and local figurehead Dr David Cleevely CBE to its laboratories to meet with entrepreneurs and business leaders and to share in the outstanding accomplishments of the Cambridge Cluster.

TWI Chief Executive Dr Christoph Wiesner said, ‘We are thrilled that Vince Cable has agreed to come to Cambridge to launch Cambridge Business Week and that TWI is able to play a part in the celebrations. This is an important week for the business community, bringing together top talent and recognising the hard work and product successes that are keeping the area on the world stage for research and technology firsts.’

Cambridge Business Week builds on an initiative started in 2012, to bring together Cambridge’s buzzing business community and to spark enthusiasm for new ideas through a series of science and technology events and awards ceremonies. The Business Weekly Business Awards will be held at Queens’ College, Cambridge on Tuesday 19 March 2013. The Cambridge News Business Excellence Awards takes place at King’s College, Cambridge on Thursday 21 March 2013.

Cambridge Business Week organising committee comprises RealVNC, One Nucleus, Cambridge Wireless, Cambridge Network, together with Business Weekly and Cambridge News.

TWI is the sponsor of the Cambridge News Business Excellence Awards, ‘Technology Engineering in International Markets’ category. The winner of the category will be announced during Cambridge Business Week and the award presented at King’s College on Thursday 21 March 2013.
