Cambridge companies partner to promote High Value Manufacturing 2012

Qi3 Accelerator and the HVM Conference Series of CIR Strategy are pleased to announce a partnership in promoting High Value Manufacturing in the Cambridge area and beyond. Qi3 Accelerator is running the UK’s first HVM bootcamp in July 2012, for which entries close tomorrow (31 May). Its purpose is to help a group of HVM businesses to become more investable by providing them with three days of intensive training and mentoring.

CIR Strategy is running the 10th Anniversary HVM Conference later this year.

The bootcamp has received sponsorship from a number of commercial organisations and support from the Technology Strategy Board and NESTA.  Qi3 Accelerator is a group of investors with a focus on early stage High Value Manufacturing and engineering enterprises.  It actively supports its investee companies with technical and commercial expertise.

The HVM Conference Series, which coined the phrase and defined it in a report for government in 2002, will celebrate the 10th Anniversary HVM Conference on 14-15 November 2012.  The high-level conference will be chaired by the Head of Cambridge University’s Institute for Manufacturing, and has confirmed panel participation from Lord Sainsbury, the Chancellor of Cambridge University Elect.

Justin Hayward of CIR Strategy and Qi3 Accelerator’s Nathan Hill said “2012 is an important year for High Value Manufacturing.  We now see the formation of an HVM Catapult by the Technology Strategy Board and the government’s recognition of the importance of engineering and manufacturing in rebuilding the UK economy.  Cambridge is an important hub for HVM and we hope to stimulate new entrepreneurial and business activity in this vital field”.
