Fund raising challenge kicks off 10 year anniversary celebrations for CIR Strategy
At 43, Justin plans to cover a total of 87 kilometres in sub-zero temperatures across challenging terrain in Sweden and at altitude in Switzerland. The famous 45km Halvvasan ski classic-style langlauf marathon takes place on 28 February during the 90th Vasaloppet Week in Mora, Sweden with some 5,000 competitors. This is followed by the 44th Engadin skating-style Ski Marathon in Switzerland on 11 March that attracts 16,000 entrants from all around the world.
Justin’s fund raising challenge is part of CIR Strategy’s 10th Anniversary celebrations. Based at IdeaSpace in Cambridge, CIR has helped many businesses since it was set up in March 2002 and also founded the High Value Manufacturing, HEAT, SHIFT, Smart Grids, and Cleanpower Cleantech Conference Series.
"I wanted to mark our 10-year business milestone with a personal challenge,” said Justin. “During a few winter business trips to Sweden last year, I watched coverage of the Cross Country Ski World Cup and was inspired to try it for myself. While there are disadvantages to living in a largely snow-free country, rollerskiing is a good proxy activity and fun to do.
“Having travelled the world on business, the NSPCC’s mission is very close to my heart,” adds Justin. “Too many children are treated badly, not only in far-flung, poverty stricken places, but also closer to home in high-pressure, more affluent communities. The NSPCC is now over 115 years old and has gathered immense amounts of experience of helping children and families across the UK and in working towards a society where all children are loved, valued and able to fulfil their potential.”
Justin is fund-raising via the webpage www.justgiving.com/Justin-Hayward and also via texting to the number 70070 the message "XCSK87 £10" for example.
