Cambridge Filmworks celebrates the opening of the JH Adams Heritage Centre

The 19th century Fenland ironmongers JH Adams and Sons, the subject of an evocative television documentary for Sky produced by Cambridge Filmworks, has recently been turned into a heritage centre and opens its doors to the public for the first time this weekend.

The shop, based in Littleport , was originally founded by JH Adams and Sons over 100 years ago and is a time capsule containing rarely seen archive objects, photographs, letters and ledgers that document  the everyday lives of a traditional Fenland community for over a century.

Cambridge Filmworks Director Adam Giles said: "Our documentary film has helped bring back to life a bygone era in Fenland life. Turning the old shop into a community heritage centre will now preserve its memories for future generations to enjoy."
