Cambridge fireworks go off with a bang

Cambridge will be living up to its reputation for stunning firework displays when this year’s event, organised by Cambridge City Council, takes place tonight (November 5) on Midsummer Common.

One of the city’s best loved events, 24 of Cambridge’s leading companies have joined forces in a unique joint sponsorship supporting this year’s fireworks.

Stephen Kay from Cambridge Water, Business Champion for Cambridge City Council’s annual Bonfire Night said: “The annual 5th November Fireworks are one of the most significant and treasured events in Cambridge's calendar and I am fully aware of the need for local businesses to play their part in supporting to keep it free and open to everyone in the community.’

The fun begins at 6pm – 10pm with Thurston Fun Fair and the first rocket will be launched at 7.30pm followed by the lighting of the bonfire.

Large numbers of people are anticipated, so allow plenty of time for your journey, arrive early and wherever possible walk, cycle, or use public transport.

Donations of at least £1 per person are encouraged. In order to create such a superb free public display of this scale, in addition to support from the business community, contributions from the public are essential. Please give generously to help keep this great event alive.
